It is difficult to know your set up. Here are a couple of suggestions!! Hope they help or that at least one gets you there 1.Put your wordart on to an a4 document and guess the size (may work!). Am sure there is a ruler on there somewhere…? 2.Check out photo printing options on your printer. 6 by 4 is a pretty standard option for a photo. 3. If all else fails then use an online photo printer and order your print in 6 by 4. Number 4 is pretty much guaranteed to work! Hang on… did you just day you printed a square out 4 by 6? Was that a rectangle? Good luck! |

Hey Pat. I just realised you posted 4 months ago. Hopefully you can use it this year or maybe someone else will see it and have a try.. I havent used this site in a long time since prices went up but i do check back every now and then and see what s new and have a play i spent many hours creating with these word clouds so i can expand on Alex's post a little bit. I have achieved just what you are describing by using GIMP editing software alongside wordart.com word clouds. First you need a template that has a cavity for your picture. You can get this by creating your own template using paint (available for free on windows) and creating either a black circle or rectangle on a white background then saving it. NOTE: This is the basis for your final image and so should have the correct proportion for your final look - the black shape will represent your photograph placement. You are then going to want to upload that image to wordart.com to make your word cloud. You want the words to be everywhere except that black shape so choose the invert option(if I remember correctly!!). Then you are going to create your cloud, choose your colours and your fonts (dafont is my favourite place for fonts) and words get creative and when you are happy make sure you choose a transparent background and save and download Your wordart image. Now comes the trickier part if you are not familiar with GIMP (Photoshop or other editing software will work too but GIMP is open source and therefore my first choice) you want to firstly open your wordart with GIMP - Then you will add your photo (you can drag and drop it in to GIMP. Then you will need to add another layer - this layer should be white (YouTube or google adding a layer in gimp if you need to know how to do this). We add the white layer so we can work more easily with the whole image. So you will have three layers now -first your word art then your photo then your white background. They must be in this order to get the look! Check that you have them in this order and can see all of your layers. You will likely need to resize your photo layer to fit nicely in your word free space. (Google.how.to resize a layer if needed) If you are feeling creative or know your way around GIMP then you can soften or feather the edges of the photo! YouTube has great tutorials on how to use GIMP if you are a newbie with it. You will then export this as an image (.png or .jpg) from GIMP and voila you should have your photo inside your wordart with a white background I hope i havent made that sound trickier than it is! I hope that's helpful, have fun!!! |

Laurapotz - If you are trying to print a rectangle to an a4 piece of paper - use paint/gimp/photoshop to make a rectangle then upload the image and use that this will give the A$ shape and eliminate the need for resizing when printing to A4. If it is for another shape then GIMP is totally compatible for resizing purposes. |

Betsy - I had a similar problem when I wanted a group of words inside of a small heart on an image one time. I overcome this problem by adding the words twice to the word list and resizing and moving one of the copies of the word that was movable to inside the heart where I wanted it. I had a lovely customer whos image I edited 11 times to get the right words in that small heart!!! Obviously this was when the pricing was different. But repeating the word and resizing and moving the word to where you want it to be is a good way to deal with your problem. Before I quit word art I would put all of the words in twice by default and then deselect repeat on one lot of words. That would give you the option mostly to be able to move at least one copy of a word to where you wanted it to be. Otherwise you just spend some time moving the words to where you want them to be(time consuming I know) and click that visualise button till you get a formation that suits your needs! |

I cannot afford to keep up subscription either. I just don't sell enough for it to be worth it. However there will be some that can and will, so I suppose my subscription wont be missed! and the needed cash flow will be generated from their purchases. I do feel a little pushed out. But I guess it will only spur me on to come up with other ideas and who knows what could come from that!! And in truth the Word Art market does seem pretty saturated at the moment. I will still be using the free stuff for personal use Love a good word cloud! Good Luck Alex! |
