Wait, are you saying that God says we can't eat meat or are these just your reasons for not eating meat.

These are my reasons for not eating meat. Nowhere in the bible does god require us to eat meat. We were created as fruit eaters and our physiology has not changed. There were times when it may have been appropriate thousands of years ago but we no longer live in those times, we have the ability to choose not to. Why would you choose to if it's not necessary, especially when the current production of animal products creates so much suffering and destruction and waste? Certainly that's not something God wants us to choose! I encourage you to watch the upcoming documentary Christspiracy that asks the question "is there a spiritual way to kill animals?" In theaters March 20. Jesus freed the animals in the den of thieves, he got fishermen to drop their nets and leave that lifestyle to follow him, and he said that "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go." John 14:12. What a great way to show his love and mercy to all things (Psalms 145:9) than to not needlessly exploit, abuse, kill and eat his creations at the expense of our health and the environment?

Because God says we can eat meat by the way.

The bible also condones murder, slavery and rape in some instances (Deuteronomy 20:10-14), so are you saying we should do that too?

1 Timonthy 4:3-5 "3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer."

I think 1 Corinthians 8:13 puts it well. The author clearly approves of eating animals in an earlier passage, but then goes on to say "Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend." And it offends a LOT of people, so if your addiction to flesh is stronger than your commitment to your brethren, I think that's a serious problem you need to look at!

Matthew 15:11 "11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man."

Here again we are not required to eat meat. While you could interpret this as saying it's okay to eat meat, what's coming out of our mouths? You're pushing for exploitation, abuse and killing of animals, I'm proposing love and kindness and mercy.

Acts 10:10-15 "Then he became very hungry and wanted to eat; but while they made ready, he fell into a trance 11 and saw heaven opened and an object like a great sheet bound at the four corners, descending to him and let down to the earth. 12 In it were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air. 13 And a voice came to him, “Rise, Peter; kill and eat.”

14 But Peter said, “Not so, Lord! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean.”

15 And a voice spoke to him again the second time, “What God has [f]cleansed you must not call common.” 16 This was done three times. And the object was taken up into heaven again.

      Acts 15:20, 28-29
"(20) But that we write unto them that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood."
      (28) For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to be upon you no greater burden than these necessary things; that you abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication:
      (29) from which if you keep yourselves, you shall do well. Fare you well."
